A girl recognized as Florence Samuel has been dragged to an Osun State Magistrates’ Court docket sitting in Osogbo after being accused of allegedly assaulting a police sergeant, Caroline Olaitan.
Based on Punch, Florence, a 28-year-old palm wine vendor at a store situated within the Balogun Agoro space of Osogbo, allegedly beat up the policewoman and resisted arrest when Caroline visited her pub following allegation that the sum of N150,000 belonging to a patron was lacking.
The palm wine vendor, who was arraigned on expenses bordering on assault, a breach of the general public peace, conspiracy and stealing, was allegedly with a buyer, Ayodele Ogundipe, when one other buyer, Taiwo Yusuf, visited the pub on September 10, 2020, round 9.45am, with the sum of N150, 000, which ultimately acquired lacking.
She was arraigned alongside the 59-year-old Ogundipe.
The police prosecutor, Adeoye Kayode, defined that Florence assaulted Caroline by beating her and tearing her uniform, whereas the policewoman was performing her lawful obligation.
The offences had been stated to be opposite to and punishable below sections 356, 249 (D), 251, 516 and 390 (9) of the Prison Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Legal guidelines of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendants pleaded not responsible to the fees.
Counsel for the defendants, Mr Najite Okobe, prayed the courtroom to commit them to bail.
