Real Madrid has announced this Saturday morning that the defender Marcelo is out of action at the last minute for the match against Betis. The Brazilian will not travel with the team to Seville.
Marcelo will not go to Benito Villamarín. Real Madrid has announced on the morning of the day of the match that the Brazilian footballer is not on Zidane’s squad list of 22 players.
Therefore, the full-back will not travel to Seville with his teammates to play in the match that will take place at 21.00. The decision has been taken due to back problems.
Neither Madrid nor the player wanted to take any risks and he will be treated by the team’s physiotherapists to resolve these issues as soon as possible, so this Saturday Mendy will play at left-back.

“Marcelo will not travel with Real Madrid to Seville to play tonight against Betis in the 3rd round of the league. The Brazilian was among the 22 players called up by Zidane for this match but he is out of the team at the last minute due to some back problems”, explained Real Madrid in the official statement.
For this matchday at least, there is no doubt that Mendy will be in the starting 11. A question that Zidane will have to clear up every game is who will start, Mendy or Marcelo because both players are competing for the position and both are doing well in training.
The French coach has already said at the press conference before the match with Betis that he will choose based on the requirements of each match throughout the season: “Each match is a world”.
