Northern Governor Tells Buhari to Withdraw Onochie’s Nomination As INEC Commissioner

President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolution to nominate Lauretta Onochie has been condemned by the Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal.


He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as a commissioner of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC.


Recall that President Buhari had on Monday forwarded the title of his aide and three others to the Senate throughout the week for affirmation.


The choice of the president has been condemned by many who described Onochie as a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress.


Tambuwal in his assertion charged the President to withdraw Onochie who’s his particular assistant on social media.


The Peoples Democratic Celebration governor said this whereas talking on the swearing-in of members of the State Impartial Electoral Fee on the Authorities Home on Wednesday.


Tambuwal stated, “the withdrawal is in the most effective curiosity of the nation’s electoral system.”


He famous that Buhari’s alternative of “Onochie just isn’t proper for the nation’s democracy because the nominee is a widely known partisan particular person.”


The Sokoto Governor additional demanded that the higher legislative chamber ought to “reject her nomination if President Buhari fails to withdraw her nomination.”
