Alexander-Arnold’s rating has improved since the last edition of the popular football simulator but the PFA Young Player of the Year was disappointed with one particular score
Liverpool’sTrent Alexander-Arnold is delighted with his new FIFA rating but had a bone to pick with the game’s developers over one of his attributes.
The ratings have become an interesting topic of debate among professionals, many of whom play the game in their downtime.
And with the release of FIFA 2021, each player has received a fresh set of scores based on their performance.
Alexander-Arnold, 21, is regarded as one of the best full-back’s in world football following his success at club level, which recently saw him crowned PFA Young Player of the Year.
But in FIFA 2020 the England international failed to rank inside the top 100 players on the game despite earning an impressive rating of 85.
Alexander-Arnold was unhappy with the scoring of one of his attributes
Asked by the BBC whether he was pleased, Alexander-Arnold said: “Yeah I’m happy, of course! 87. Wow, thats high!”
Football Focus presenter Dan Walker then pointed to Alexander-Arnold’s 66 rating for shooting.
“Maybe they put that in there because it’s my squad number,” the defender replied. “(I scored) Four goals (last season) from full-back.”
Three of Alexander-Arnold’s strikes were long-range free-kicks, including home and away goals against Chelsea, while his fourth was a drilled piledriver against Leicester.
“Maybe (the rating is harsh), I don’t know!” he added. “I’m not going to challenge it too much. I would have liked it to be higher though!”

Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all placed in the top 10, too, each scoring 90 overall – the same as Reds goalkeeper Alisson who is 11th.
Unsurprisingly Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo topped the charts in first and second, with respective ratings of 93 and 92.
Robert Lewandowski, Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne and Jan Oblak were next in the list, all on 91, before the Reds’ quartet who were level with Kylian Mbappe and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The game is set for release on various video game consoles on October 9.
